CeMaCe have a complementary role in relation to institutions and other entities at the University of Gothenburg mainly because it reaveals a nationally unique profile area in marine research and education the to the world.

The center provides an interface to external actors and an important meeting place for different stakeholders with an interest in marine chemical ecology and bioactive substances in the sea. These actors include both researchers from various national and international universities, but also for business stakeholders and government agencies.
