Marine Chemical Ecology

The course Marine chemical ecology deals with how naturally occurring substances regulate ecological interactions between marine organisms. The course integrates ecological and evolutionary theories, population and behavioural ecology, and natural product chemistry, with special emphasis towards chemical defences and communication in marine organisms. It includes a theoretical part with lectures and group seminars, as well as an experimental part that aims to apply the obtained knowledge through laboratory lessons and independent work The course runs at the Sven Lovén Center (SLC) for Marine Sciences at Tjärnö outside Strömstad. Staying at SLC involve a fee covering food costs.
